The American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) advises that you bring your child to see your dentist six months after the first tooth comes in or by their first birthday, whichever comes first.

But as a general rule, the earlier you can have your child seen by a dentist, the better. Early cleaning and treatment decreases bacteria and plaque in your child’s mouth, which can cause cavities and other complications later. We can also help you learn how to clean your baby’s teeth, learn what foods to avoid, and understand the effects of thumb sucking and pacifier use.
