After Trauma Care
Even after the initial trauma is over, your child will require special care. Follow these steps to treat ongoing pain and swelling. As always, please call our office if you have any concerns.
Swelling
Apply ice during the first 24 hours to keep swelling down. If swelling reoccurs, call our office to make an appointment as soon as possible.
Infection
Watch for infection at the trauma site. Signs of infection may include swelling of the gum tissue at the trauma site, pain, increased mobility of the tooth, color changes within the tooth, or draining fluid. If your child experiences any of these problems, call our office immediately.
Diet
Prepare soft foods for a few days or until your child is able to eat comfortably again. Keep from giving your child sweets and foods that are extremely hot or cold.
Pain
If your doctor prescribed pain meds or antibiotics, always follow the prescription as your doctor prescribed.
